Drum Tower of Zhangye Review

Zhang Shungulou, also known as "Zhenyuan Building" and "Jingyuan Building", was built in Ming Zhengde two years (1507), Qing Shunzhi five years (1648) destroyed in the military, Kangxi seven years (1668) rebuilt. The floor of the Drum Tower is square, composed of two parts, the tower, the height of 28 meters. The terrace is covered with earth blue bricks, 32 meters long, 10 meters high, four arches, the middle of the door are engraved with brick carvings, the east is "open", the west is "bincheng", the south is "ying" north is "zhenyuan". The scorpion is hung on all sides, the east is "Nine heavy in the look", the west is "All the kingdoms become guests", the south is "Sound education four", and the north is "Hushan view". The southeast corner of the Drum Tower is hung with Tang Dynasty copper bell 1 mouth, the casting process is exquisite, weighing about 600kg, the bell tattoo decoration is divided into three layers, the upper layer is flying, the middle layer of Zhuque, Xuanwu, the lower layer of Qinglong, white tiger.

Whether in ancient or modern, the Bell and Drum Tower, called Zhenyuan Tower, is in the center of Zhangye Ancient City. In fact, in format, Zhenyuan Building and many other cities I have seen the Bell and Drum Tower are similar, three-story four-corner wooden tower-shaped buildings are built on a brick-packed high platform, the base has "ten" hole in the southeast and northwest four streets linked. On one side of the base there is a slope to the main building of the Bell and Drum Tower, but the gate is closed during the day and night when I pass by. However, Zhenyuan Building is the largest existing drum tower in the Hexi Corridor.

Living near Zhangye High-speed Railway Station, walking to the Drum Tower after dinner, is: on the road, I accidentally found a large square, Wanshou Temple and Wanshou Temple Tower, and watched the red song performance in the square. I went to Zhangye Park the next morning. The air was fresh. I ate dumpling noodles in the store next to the park. It tasted good, but it was a bit salty, a good experience.

Zhenyuan Building , commonly known as Drum Tower, also known as Jingyuan Building, is located in the center of Zhangye City, where four streets from east to west meet, is the largest drum tower in the Hexi Corridor. It is built like Xi'an Bell Tower, flat square, built on a brick altar, 3 wide, 3 deep, 16 meters wide. The platform is square, the bottom is 32 meters wide, the height is 9 meters, the base is more than 30 meters to the roof, the building is three-story wooden tower shape, heavy on four slopes, the spire. The moths are upside down, the carved beams are painted, elegant and solemn, and it is completely traditional architecture in the Chinese national form.

The streets of Zhangye Old Town are quite interesting. The place where East Street West Street South Street and North Street 4 streets meet is where the Drum Tower is located. It looks quite new, but the driver friend said it was an ancient building.
