Come to this art museum if only for the gorgeous colonial-style building where the ancient and modern art is housed. There are many parts to this museum, and don't miss the building at the end which has ancient sculpture. There was a special exhibition going on when I visited but it was rather small and no signage or information in English about the artist or artists. The main hall has a few floors of mainly modern art following the war in the 1970s and a few significant Vietnamese artists from the 20th century are showcased here. Spend an hour or so exploring the different rooms and hallways filled with mainly oil and lacquer paintings.
