The ancient village of Gaoyi does not have a clear boundary of the ancient village. You can see the brand of high chair along the main street when you walk. The road inside is naturally intricate. Gaoyi Ancient Village is located on the banks of the Wushui River in Gaoyi Ancient Township, Huitong County, because it is surrounded by mountains and faces water on three sides, and the terrain is like a Taishi chair. The whole village has more than 5,900,000 households and more than 2,200 people, of whom 85% are surnamed Yang, descendants of Weiyuan Hou Yang Zaisi of the Southern Song Dynasty, and Yi nationality. The ancient village is centered on Wutong Temple, each building sits north-facing south, the appearance is similar, in plum-like distribution, the laneway and closed courtyard are in a gossip formation, the village is divided into five natural villages. The village is preserved with 104 ancient buildings from 13 years of Ming and Hongwu to seven years of Qing Guangxu. The ancient village building is a wooden bucket-type structure of two-story building, surrounded by high horse head wall, only small windows, forming a relatively closed courtyard, with special functions of wind, fire and anti-theft. Gaoyi Ancient Village is a rare well-preserved ancient Dong culture village. The villagers'folkways are simple and not over-commercialized. We met a local elementary school student in the village as a volunteer tour guide for us. The explanation was very professional and we were very familiar with the route we were walking. It was worth visiting.
