The Nazi Party (NSDAP) has used the stadium as a footy ground for the Hitler Youth League (Hitler-Jugend) since 1933. The stadium was originally called "Städtisches Stadion" and was renamed the Frankenstein Stadium in 1991, adjacent to the newly built Arena Nürnberger Versicherung.
