Hobart is the capital of Tasmania, Australia, a beautiful port city. Its long history is the second oldest city in Australia, after Sydney. Hobart was first discovered by the Dutch Tasman during a seafaring expedition in 1642, and became a British colony in 1802, when the administrator was Robert Hobart, and the city was named Hobart. It is the financial and administrative center of Tasmania, and Hobart is the home port of Antarctic research in Australia and France.
