In 1923, the white word HOLLYWOOD, which became one of the symbols of Hollywood, was erected on the hillside after Hollywood, and there were four letters of Land behind the word, which was an advertising board set up by a construction manufacturer to promote the newly built residential community. But they were erected and no one managed them until 1949, when the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce removed the four letters and repaired the others. The sign is protected today by a trademark and no one is allowed to use it without the consent of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce.
