Kampung Baru is situated in the middle of Kuala Lumpur and about 1 km from Petronas Twin Towers.Kampong Baru (lit. Malay village) was founded in 1900 when tin mining was thriving around the Gombak and Klang rivers. In order to increase the production of tin, colonial British administrators resettled the Malay population who were living around the two rivers in a new settlement known as ‘Kampung Baru’ (new village). The new village was gazetted as a Malay agricultural settlement.
