The St. Lawrence River is located in Canada and the United States. Originated in Lake Ontario, from Kingston at the mouth of Lake Ontario to Cornwall, Ontario, it is the boundary between the United States and Canada. Below Cornwall, in Canada, the Montreal West confluence with the Ottawa River, through Sanhe City, to Quebec City suddenly opened up, and eventually into the sea in the Garbo Strait, a total length of 3260 km. St. Lawrence has abundant water and less sediment. Its tributaries include the Ottawa, Rivire Richelieu and Rivire Saguenay rivers. Lake Champlain, Vermont, is also a branch of the river. Together with the Great Lakes, the St. Lawrence River is the largest freshwater system in the world. It is the passage from the Great Lakes to the Atlantic Ocean and plays an important role. On both sides of the river, 80% of Quebec's population and almost all its industries are concentrated.
