Mount York Lookout Review

Mount Victoria offers fantastic sea views, easy to get back to the city or out to sea. You can also see that the planes coming are lower than the height of the watchtower. Climbing steep peaks takes more than 35 minutes, but if you are young you can walk up.

One of the scenes of life that I yearn for is to walk into the filming location, especially my favorite series of The Lord of the Rings. But before I came to Mount Victoria, it was hard to imagine how such a fantasy blockbuster could have been shot in the most central park in New Zealand’s capital, where locals, after all, jog and cycling favorites. But when I actually climbed this mountain that didn’t seem to be high, passed the lush virgin forest, and saw the magnificent coastline beneath the mountain... I knew how much inspiration Peter Jackson had gained from his hometown of Wellington...
