Downtown is a few steps from the museum where you can peacefully taste and drink beer. In this sense, this is a perfect museum where you can easily escape the pursuit of your friends. I don’t want to walk around the museum when the weather is clear.

A great gallery. I was living in Desseldorf and after a bit of investigation I felt it was worth a visit. I was really happy. Essen is a sleepy coal mine town and you wouldn’t doubt that there is such a wonderful gallery. Easy to take train, about 30 minutes, about every 20 minutes, cost 23 euros. 15 minutes walk from the station. Make sure you take the right exit - pay attention to the station's Folklore King Museum sign. It goes uphill to the corridor, downhill to the back. Almost a straight road from the station, but you need to go a little right. The gallery is amazing inside and outside, well lit and spacious. I went for a Sunday and there were few people there but much quieter than a comparative gallery in a big city. They let Maria Lasnigger and Gerhard Ricketts review their experiences - it's not my main tea, but it's worth a look, especially Lasnigger. But the star attractions are permanent collections covering the 19th and 20th centuries, including four stunning late Van Gogh and more. The permanent collection is free, but two temporary exhibitions cost €10 and excellent audio guides cost €4. I wandered happily for 5 hours. The main collection was widely placed in two connected concentric rectangles. It was easy to miss the room/painting, for example, I only saw the painting of Super August Mac on the fifth lap. Staff were generally friendly, especially at the reception, but one or two more staff were too attentive, such as a female gallery attendant yelling at me in German that I didn't take the folding seat in the way it was supposed to (stacked near the entrance for anyone to ride). On the way back there is a nice local park in Houstonelli, close to the Philharmonic Hall. It was a sunny day so it was nice to lie there for an hour before catching the train back to Desseldorf. I am glad I learned about the gallery and made an effort.

A museum dedicated to the collection of 19th and 20th century art. The museum was formed by the merger of two museums in 1922, one was the Essen Museum of Art, built in 1906, and the other was the Frescowang Museum, founded in 1901 under the auspices of Carl Ernst Osterhaus.

A prestigious art museum in Germany, with a collection of outstanding paintings from the 19th to 20th centuries.

The Frescowang Art Museum, located in downtown Essen, is a famous abstract art museum in Europe. The building of the Frescowang Art Museum is a mix of glass windows and bricks. The art museum is well lit and the walls are full of works of various abstract art masters.
