Nairobi Education Centre - Animal Orphanage Review

To be able to stroke a Cheetah that seemed so calm was such an experience I just cannot forget.

Just a 2 min drive away (or about a 10-15min walk), you can see the animals at an affordable rate..no car needed.

The Nairobi Animal Orphanage is located in the Nairobi National Park. It serves a treatments and rehabilitation centre for wild animals. The Orphanage hosts lions, cheetahs, hyenas, jackals, serval cats, rare Sokoke cats, warthogs, leopards, various monkeys, baboons and buffalo. Various birds can also be viewed including parrots, guinea fowls, crowned cranes and ostriches.

Though it may not be a highlight of your trip, the Safari Walk is worth a visit. Call ahead to ask for feeding times, and plan your trip to coincide with them. Best tip: The cheetahs are orphans rescued at birth, and have been raised by the Kenya Wildlife Service. The wardens can be sweet-talked to let you into the cage to pet the now full-grown but docile cats.
