Located in the middle of Graben Avenue in Vienna, the Black Death Column is the largest Baroque Black Death Column in Europe. In 1679, the plague ravaged Vienna, killing almost two-thirds of the population. In honor of the victims, Austrian Emperor Leopold I ordered the construction of the Black Death Column.
