The Roald Dahl Plas (the focal point of all external activities in the Cardiff Bay area) currently has a playground and a simulated beach, occupying the Oval Basin and surrounding areas, with surrounding buildings including a number of bars and restaurants. In the summer, it is used for open-air concerts and other events, such as the recent food festival.
