Rynek we Wroclaw is the medieval market square in Wroclaw, southwest Poland. The buildings around the square are built in different styles: the middle part of the ring is a building consisting of the old town hall, the new town hall and numerous civic houses. The Market Square is an urban complex with two diagonal continuous areas - the Salt Market and the square in front of St. Elizabeth's Church. 11 streets leading to the market: two at each corner, two narrow lanes and an open outer square "chicken market." The market was first established under the laws of Magdeburg, and was first ruled between 1214 and 1232 by Henry I, the Duke of Poland, the beard. Over time, the houses of the nobles emerged, and by the mid-14th century they had formed plots defined by the enclosed building, and until the late 1970s vehicles were able to travel along East-West axis. Between 1996 and 2000, the square was repaved, while the last east side accessible by car was walked.
