Sanjiangyuan Nature Reserve is located in the hinterland of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, in the south of Qinghai Province, in the southwest and the Tibet Autonomous Region, in the east and in Sichuan Province, in the north and in Dulan County, Mongolian-Tibet Autonomous Prefecture, in Qinghai Province. The total area is 36.6 10,000 square kilometers, including 17 counties and cities, accounting for43.88% of the total land area of Qinghai Province, and the total population accounts for 55.72 million, with Tibetans as the main residents. Sanjiangyuan Nature Reserve is the largest nature reserve in China, and is also the most biodiversity-intensive and ecologically sensitive area in the world's high altitude areas. On August 19, 2000, in order to protect the natural resources of Sanjiangyuan, the monument of Sanjiangyuan Nature Reserve was officially inaugurated, which also marked the official establishment of Sanjiangyuan Nature Reserve.
