Chi Bed, in the aboriginal Anu language, means "end of the earth", it is located on the easternmost side of Hokkaido, still retains the most primitive natural features of Japan, so it is called "Japan's Last Secret". It was first designated as a national park in Japan in 1964 and was officially selected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2003.
