Australia's oldest Catholic church is located in the corner of Lonsdale and Elizabeth streets. It is the most popular and widely used church with many worshippers attending. Built in 1841-1845, there is a beautiful chapel on the west side of the church, a semi-circle sanctuary as an extension of the church. The chapel on the edge forms a cross shape. Great colored glass, St. Francis statue and the Claire sister statue on both sides of the altar. There is a pastor's centre and now a car park is built. The church has been listed in the Victorian Heritage Register and the Australian Heritage Council. Rich heritage, majestic.
