The church of St. Thomas is famous for its carefully cultivated Thomas Choir and Bach conductor. From 1723 to 1750, Bach was the organist and chorus conductor of the famous German musician. His works, such as Matthew's Good Friday, premiered here. Bach was buried there after his death and his manuscripts were also collected in the church museum.
