Sümela Monastery Review

A monastery built to stick to the quay, less than an hour by car from the town of Trabson.

[Heart][Heart][Heart] Sumera is a 1600-year-old Orthodox ancient monastery located on a steep cliff in the Maka area of Trabzon, Turkey, at an altitude of 1200 meters. The monastery is built on a rock led by a path through the forest. The beautiful murals on the monastery walls date back to the 18th century and are scenes of Christ and the Virgin Mary in the Bible at Sumera monastery. Abandoned in 1923, the site became a museum and a popular tourist attraction due to its breathtaking location, structure and scenery. On August 15, 2010, with permission from the Turkish government, Orthodox Mass was held at Sumera Abbey for the first time since 1923. World Heritage Site Sumera Monastery
