Old stone windmills are well preserved and few tourists follow the group. It's a good souvenir.

This is obviously Brisbane's oldest building and if you've seen it it's worth seeing. Unfortunately you can't go in but just climbing up the hill from the city is a great exercise so it's not a completely futile exercise. Go there, see the old windmill, then go to the nearby Roman Street Park and tour the gardens.

This is one of the oldest buildings left in Brisbane built by prisoners - the other is the grain depot on George Street. The old windmill stands in the local "first" position - and it bears witness to everything from hanging to protests to weather warnings to Brisbane's first place to transmit television signals. Not walking in now, but still worth 20 minutes up the hill - the good thing is you can see the mean look Brisbane has had. Much of Brisbane's history has sadly been destroyed, but this beautiful thing survived and, after 188 years, it remains the jewel in the crown. It's a must-see attraction for all history buffs.

This 170-year-old windmill built on sandstone is the oldest building in Brisbane. From 1828 onwards, prisoners expelled from Britain to settle in Australia began to build windmills along the Brisbane River, obtain power to grind wheat and corn, and produce food for later young migrants, which is also a strong testimony to the hard work of prisoners in history.
