The famous Royal Exhibition Hall is one of Australia's world heritage sites, adjacent to Melbourne's CBD. It was built to host the annual Melbourne International Exhibition. In 1901, the first Australian Parliament was opened. In the 20th century, a small part of the building and the flanking pavilion were demolished by fire.
