Remember that magical Lapland in the animated film "Niels Goose Travels"? The most memorable sentence I have is "you live a much better way than we do." After reading it, I was eager to get to Lapland, the last indigenous settlement in Europe, where is this Lapland? Lapland refers to the north of the Arctic Circle, from Norway, Sweden and Finland to the northwest corner of Russia, which is known as the "last pure land in Europe." The people who live in Lapland are the Lapps, who have lived on this pure land for thousands of years, but they call themselves Sami. Like the Inuit in Greenland, the Sami are the last indigenous peoples in Europe. In Sweden, there are between ,000 and ,000 Sami. Traditional Sami herders live in wooden houses or grass houses, with five or six families moving with deer, and along the way by hunting and fishing to supplement their food. We come to the Swedish Lapland region, live in Sami huts, and sit on husky sleds every day to fish on the frozen lake. Then collect wild fruit that fell in the forest, which is a long-awaited ice sheet life.
