The Catholic Church is a French Renaissance Gothic building, the entire complex consists of churches, monasteries, hospitals, priests, nurseries, etc. There was no reinforced cement at the time, and the building materials were all built from coral, rock, lime mixed sea stone and bamboo on the island. For more than a hundred years, the Catholic Church on Weizhou Island has been preserved in good condition despite the storms and rains. The French Gothic Catholic Church is quite distinctive, it is13.5 meters high, 56 meters long, 17 meters wide, all built with rocks, coral grains and bamboo and wooden tiles, the construction area is 1,500 square meters, and the church can accommodate 1,500 people. The Catholic Church on Weizhou Island was built during the Tongzhi period of the Qing Dynasty (1861 ── 1880) and took 20 years to build. It is said that this church was one of the four cathedrals in the country at that time. The Catholic Church in Weizhou was composed of the Bell Tower, the Abbey School, the Hospital and the Nursing Church. With the sweep of the "four old" of the Cultural Revolution, the rest have disappeared except the church and the bell tower. Until now, there are still churches and churches for worshippers to pray and for posterity. There are more than 2,000 believers, and every Sunday there is a letter to worship here, which is very lively.
