Xinluhai is located at the foot of Queer Mountain in Dege County, on the side of Sichuan-Tibet Highway, 98 kilometers away from Ganzi County, 100 kilometers away from Dege County, 4,040 meters above sea level, an average depth of 10 meters, and the deepest depth of 15 meters. It is the famous ice erosion lake in Ganzi Prefecture. Water supply is supplied by Quershan glacier and snow melt, and the stream from the lake's tail is one of the sources of the Cuoqu River.
