    5/5Outstanding

Fantastic view of the Bosphorus with great traditional Turkish food. Wide selection of Turkish wines. Both the kebabs and the Mediterrenean dishes are sumptuous. Good service.

    4/5Excellent

Easily one of the better restaurants I have been to in Istanbul in recent years – that said, this Harbiye branch, located within the Lütfi Kırdar Convention and Exhibition Center, is very much a classic, having been on the Istanbul fine dining scene for a while. Tastefully decorated to appeal to business people (and politicians from what I hear) rather than tourists it has an large indoor, as well as an expansive outdoor seating area from where you get a good view of Maçka Park…and a peak of the Bosporus. The food, best described as a combination of Classic and Ottoman, is nothing short of fantastic. My colleagues chose the Iskender Kebap, which I also tried – Wow! Apart from the wonderfully flavoursome Baby Veal Meat Doner and the rich, tangy tomato sauce I love the fact that the Pita Bread is toasted, adding a crunch to each bite. And then there is the Yogurt which I am sure, is made in heaven. As you can tell I love the food here. And then there are the deserts…oh God, the deserts are unbelievable. I have a weakness for Turkish Künefe…and Baklava. And Borsa does both really, really well. In fact their Charcoaled Künefe, served with a dollop of cream (also made in heaven) and crushed Pistachio, is one of the best I have had – ever. I stole a bite of my friend’s Gaziantep-style Baklava; nice but not a taste I’m familiar with – he loved it. Sadly I was too far away from my other friend, who was oohing and aahing over the Borsa-style Fig & Date Pudding to try some without disturbing table etiquette, but from the noises he was making it must have been good. I found service very business class – efficient and attentive. It wouldn’t hurt their staff to smile once in a while. But in all honesty that’s just me nit-picking – Bottom-line is that I thoroughly enjoyed my
