We stopped at Clark Picnic Cafe and Bar Terrace on our way to Buda Castle our first night in Budapest. I had been reading about langos and how delicious they were, so I wanted to try one. Happily, the Cafe was serving them. A very nice lady took our order, and started making them fresh. She fried the bread beautifully and put the most delicious garlic butter on top before slathering them with incredible sour cream and sharp cheddar cheese. I tipped her for her amazing work, which she hesitated to take, but took it. Once we sat down to eat our langos, she brought other toppings out for us to put on them with a smile. The incredible woman making the langos showed us just how kind and friendly the Hungarian people are, and it was the perfect stop on our first tourist outing in Budapest.

    4/5Excellent

A nice stop to enjoy a coffee, refreshments or s snack. Nice outdoor seating and comfy indoor one. Just under the castle steps away from funicular.

    3/5Average

It was raining on the day we wanted to visit the castle and by the time we reached the funicular, there was a big queue and a hot drink was calling. We called in and managed to get seats. It was quite cold with people coming in and out but blankets were available if needed (we found this with many places in Budapest). Pastries and coffees were ordered and arrived quickly. The staff weren't necessarily the friendliest but they were busy and this wasn't particularly an issue. Most busy coffee shops are the same the wold over! The cappuccinos were delish and the broccoli and cheese pastry was just what the doctor ordered. The chocolate crossaints were similarly good. We sat for around half an hour and had no issues. Exactly what you would expect from a busy coffee shop in a busy tourist location. We didn't find prices unreasonable - perhaps slightly more than the average coffee but, again, it's a prime tourist location so you expect prices to be bumped up a bit. This is not exactly unheard of!!! Hit the spot!

    1/5Terrible

Over priced. Rude staff. Average place. Although you wouldn't expect more at this particular location, they could do a better job. Good music though.
