We had walked from Hiroshima Station to the Peace Park and back, and by the time we reached Fukuchan we were absolutely ravenous. We had been looking for somewhere to stop for okonomiyaki on the way back from the park, but typically everywhere we had walked past had done some other type of food (we could have katsu in about 6 restaurants if we wanted!). Fukuchan specialises in okonomiyaki, including the oyster type that is popular in Hiroshima. We picked the flavours we wanted (the husband had beef or pork, and I had octopus) and waited for our food. The kitchen is open so we could watch the chefs making our lunch, which was pretty interesting. When it arrived it was all devoured pretty quickly because we had spent so long walking around town. Okonomiyaki is quite a solid dish, and we certainly felt full once we had finished. If you are at Hiroshima station, or looking for food in the area, then Fukuchan is definitely worth a look.
