Mother India resulted from a google search, and a recommendation from a waiter in another establishment. He didn't remember the name of the place, but that it was across the road from a vacuum cleaner retailer!! It's a fair walk from the waterfront, up to the high end of Elizabeth Street, particularly on a bitter June night in Hobart!! We ordered Malai Kofta and Lamb Rogan Josh, a Kingfisher beer, and and a glass of Sav Blanc. Service was quite fast, and attentive. The Malai Kofta was superb, may partner said almost as good as the one I make at home, and that is really saying something!! The Rogan Josh, however, was nothing like the distinctive, traditional RJ taste, and this was quite different. There are many regional recipes, so there is often a difference, but this wasn't even close. It was tasty, but not what I expected. Prices were high end for Indian restaurants, but I noted that Hobart prices in every place we visited were somewhat higher than Melbourne. Perhaps it's just a more expensive place to run a business?? I'd be happy to recommend Mother India.
