Beautiful heritage building, small open fire, beer cold, food delicious especially the mushroom sauce and very well priced. Good friendly atmosphere.

Atmosphere was OK - rooms a bit pokey if you asked to be away from the general area (large groups were a little rowdy). I had the schnitzel which was delicious and my friend had the gnocchi which she indicated was fabulous. Low points: fingermarks all over the edge of my plate put me off, table was sticky and my friend got the 'runs' about an hour after. I can't 100% blame the gnocchi as we did stop off for a chai at Maccas. I'm not sure I'd go again.

We decided to grab a pub meal on our first night in Battery point and this establishment was just around the corner. It has a welcoming feel to it but there was a function happening and so the staff where a bit rushed. They did say that there could be a wait for our meals. My Husband had the linguine with prawns and it was a large serving. It was nice, but nothing to write home about. I opted for the herb marinated chicken with vegs but it was really dry and I couldnt eat it, even after ordering some gravy. Bit disappointed I must say.

    1/5Terrible

Shippies used to be a great pub - really buzzing bar and an excellent restaurant - the proverbial institution. But there has been a change of publican and he has killed the atmosphere and most of the local, who made the place buzz, have gone elsewhere. Restaurant pices are now very high for the greasy stodgy served. Very disappointing.
