The Great Buddha Temple is a Chinese Buddhist temple. It is understood that there was a group of ancient temples in Hongshan, which were successively built around 1797. The original Dafo Temple ancient temple group is arranged along the foot of Hongshan, from east to west: the east end is the Dafo Temple, the middle is the Jade Emperor Temple, and the west end is the Dizang Temple. The ancient temple complex of Hongshan was once a collection of classical buildings in Urumqi, and it was also a tourist attraction for temple fairs. During temple fairs, all the temples in Hongshan were open to reward the gods and perform performances, and the offerings were endless. In 1933, Shengshicai demolished all the temples in Hongshan. On the eve of liberation, there was only one solitary pagoda in Hongshan, and there was only one gate of the Great Buddha Temple in the huge ancient temple complex, which was desolate. The main buildings of the Great Buddha Temple are Tianwang Hall, Daxiong Hall, Guanyin Hall and Ksitigarbha Temple. The statues include Sakyamuni, Maitreya Buddha, Avalokitesvara, Ksitigarbha King, Four King Kong, Eighteen Arhats, etc. Now the Great Buddha Temple is located on the north side of the park. It is an antique temple, which can be used by tourists to worship Buddha and pray for blessings. However, this Buddhist temple in Urumqi, where there are many mosques, is very special.
