We stayed at Monsane Villa in Luang Prabang, and the location is absolutely unbeatable!
It is right in the heart of the main street, right next to the night market and right across from it.
The Royal Palace, Mount Phousi, and the morning market are all within a 3-minute walk.
We can even watch the morning alms-giving ceremony right outside the hotel without having to wake up early.
We must highly praise the staff for their warm and thoughtful service.
The lady at the front desk and bar used to be a flight attendant, she is very beautiful and provided excellent service.
She kindly helped us with our luggage and called a taxi to the waterfall.
The housekeeper Auntie Ni, who cleans the rooms and bathrooms, is very careful and hardworking, keeping the rooms spotless.
Both staff members are outstanding and deserve great recognition.
We hope the owner can consider giving them a salary raise!
The hotel serves fresh coffee and bread for breakfast, and there is also delicious Lanzhou noodles nearby.
It is a century-old French colonial villa, perfect for taking photos.
Communication at the front desk is easy and convenient.
With such a great location in the city center, the price is very affordable.
Staying here is absolutely the best choice for traveling in Luang Prabang!
We loved Ock Pop Top. All of the staff were so friendly and made us very welcome. Especially Mr Duan who helped us arrange a slow boat and Mr Noi and Mr Air who gave my partner lots of tips for local fishing. We only stayed 1 night but we will be coming back for sure. The grounds are beautiful and peaceful. You can learn a lot about Hmong crafts which is very interesting. The food and drink is delicious, I recommend the tamarind margaritas! The rooms are beautiful and full of eco friendly amenities like mosquito spray, shampoo, soap etc and locally crafted decor. The balcony rooms facing the Mekong are amazing. The location is out of the town centre but they offer a free shuttle service via tuk tuk, you may have to wait a while but you can relax in the bar while you wait. The sunset from the restaurant is amazing but be aware that between 5:30-6:30 the mosquitoes come out in full force! Cover up or bring the spray from your room and keep topping up.
Positives:
The location is great, right on the waterfront. The interior of the building is interesting (seems like a historic property), and there's a balcony with a river view. They also helped me with my luggage.
Negatives:
The price seems a bit high for the amenities offered. The water pressure in the shower was poor, and the bed was quite hard. Breakfast wasn't great: it consisted of an omelet with ketchup, two pieces of toast, and about a third of a cup of juice. Breakfast is brought to the room, but on the first day, they didn't even knock before entering. On the second day, I was leaving the city and had approached them beforehand to request breakfast by a certain time, as I had a car booked to the train station. I waited in my room, packing, but no one came. When I went downstairs to check out, the woman was only just preparing it, even though there had been plenty of time. In the end, I checked out hungry. Overall, the hotel needs to significantly improve its service for guests.
Next time, I would choose a different hotel.

The hotel has an excellent location, very close to Foreigners' Street, the morning alms-giving area, and Xipu Mountain, all within a two-minute walk. The rooms are in an old-style Western-style house; the facilities are basic, but they are very clean. The house is near the road, so it might be a bit noisy at night. There are few Chinese guests here; most are Europeans and Americans. The owner is Vietnamese and not very child-friendly.
Prima verblijf voor een of twee nachten, rustig gelegen iets buiten het centrum van Nong Kiau. Enige minpuntje was dat er geen normale handdoeken waren maar papieren wegwerp handdoeken.

This little guesthouse is Ideally located, quiet for sleeping, yet close enough to walk to all the old town sights (less than 10 minutes to the night market) and the Old French Bridge too. Breakfast can be eaten from the balcony on the upper floor with a view of the Mekong. Breakfast is basic, eggs in a range of ways, and despite oranges being in season, the juice wasn't real juice.
The room isn't fancy but spacious enough and has all you need- good towels, small pkg of generic shampoo and soap. Water temperature varied. I stayed in 2 different rooms. A small downstairs windowless room, where the water was a bit too cool for my liking, and an upstairs room, with a, window, where the water was fine. Note: this is a guesthouse, not a hotel, so expect a toilet/shower combo.
Some might find the mattress hard, but if you are used to backpacker travel in Asia, it is a typical matress, and more comfortable than some I have had in China, for example. The wifi was strong and reliable.
Coffee (powered) coffee and tea available in the main reception area 24/7. I had hoped for some real Laotian coffee for breakfast. The food/drink options was why I rated the 'amenities' only a 3.
Service was friendly and helpful (I needed help cleaning a shirt stained with oily soup - they prevailed!). Note: for laundry you pay by the kg.
All in all, I would definitely stay here again. I felt safe, it was very clean, and you can't beat the location. Very good value for money.

This small but beautiful hotel was the best experience ever! The rooms are small but they are comfortable! It’s full equipped with everything! The location is by the river next to a wooden bridge. They have tours as well, take advantage of them! Everything is walking distance from that hotel. I would like to draw my attention to the staff! The staff in this hotel deserves a lot of praise from me! To Keng, thank you so much for being an amazing host, you bring a smile to everyone as we walk into the hotel! I really enjoyed your presences and your hospitality! To Tom, thank you for helping me when I was sick! You got off work and took me to multiple locations to find medicine! Thank you boys! Thank you so much! This hotel will forever be my favorite hotel! I highly suggest you stay here! Thank you!

Amazing
Clean room, good service. The boss and staff are warm-hearted. Along the Mekong riverside and not far away from main street. Strongly recommend this guest house!!
A great place to stay for one or two nights, quietly located just outside the center of Nong Kiau. The only downside was that there were no regular towels, only disposable paper towels.
