Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Austin Airport Reviews

Very functional hotel with basic breakfast and a nice quiet park nearby, 20 minutes from Downtown Austin. I stayed in both a basic room with a queen bed, and a suite (they turned out to be identical), around the Texas Eclipse in April 2024. Pros: * Even the most basic room is very functional: desk and ergonomic chair for computer work, mini-fridge, microwave, couch, comfortable bed * Basic breakfast until 9am: microwaveable burritos and biscuits, hard boiled eggs, milk and cereal, apples, oranges, coffee, juice * Very helpful staff (held onto my luggage, received packages, printed labels, extended my reservation several times) * Nice quiet park to walk or jog in, 3 minutes away by foot (the MetCenter Hike & Bike trail). Hardly anybody there every time I went. * Small fitness room with 3 cardio machines * $8 shuttle service to the airport, plus free pickup from the airport * The elevator now works Cons: * The WiFi was extremely fast in the lobby, but on the 3rd floor - unstable, and would disconnect briefly several times per hour. Like most other hotels, WiFi also kicks you out 2+ times a day, and you have to login (with the same password). I don't really get the point of this, and if the logout happens during a video call, you're screwed until you reconnect 💥, OR if you're on your phone, it goes on data and chews up bandwidth to handle the video. Microtel, please stop this dumb practice. * The TV's WiFi worked only on day one (so other devices could connect and cast to it), and never since then. * The area doesn't have anything interesting within a 5-minute walk, but is a ~15-minute Uber ride to downtown Austin. Ubers take ~5 minutes to arrive. So consider 20 minutes to get to Downtown. * Walls aren't the thickest so I could hear the neighbors bumping things into them, but overall both rooms were quiet. * The mattress was a tiny bit squeaky * Breakfast ends at 9am. Other places have breakfast until 10am. * The suite may be slightly bigger but I didn't see ANY advantage vs. the basic room. Really not worth the price difference. Exactly the same layout and furniture. Not sure why they charge more for it.

Stayed for 3 nights. Room was clean & spacious. 5 min walk to 7-Eleven & Denny's open 24 hours + a few other food options. Airport shuttle pickup included but I arrived around midnight so took an Uber from airport for $15. 10 min walk to CapMetro bus 20 to downtown. Great value overall.

Good room as before, location is convenient and price is good. Aircon is a bit loud, but thats normal for usa. Nearby are convenience stores and a tex mex place. I recommend

The hotel shuttle information is wrong. It will no longer be provided from 2024, causing an additional Uber fee of about US$30 to and from the airport. I hope the hotel information will be updated in time. Thank you!

The room environment is good in all aspects, but the price is high

Except for the impetuous breakfast, everything else is very good, clean and hygienic, and the attitude of the service staff is good

A very satisfying stay.

It was clean. It was convenient for me. The price was right. The staff was attentive. The $10 upgrade made it perfect.

There appeared to be a homeless person sleeping in their car in the parking lot. Limited breakfast selection

Overall a comfortable stay and location was convenient. Room and space was fairly clean. However, saw a couple little roaches skittering around the dinning area near the lobby when I came out for some water. Breakfast was basic, no meats. Just a pancake machine and some cereal. Though, there were some prepackaged hardboiled eggs. However, when I bit into one, it was sour so I quickly spat it out and threw away the rest. Not sure if they were rotten or I was just tasting some kind of preservative. Couldn’t make out the expiration date on the packaging. We were also checked into a room directly in front of the dinning area and the walls were pretty thin, so it got somewhat noisy in the morning.

Very clean, newly updated. Really great affordable place to stay. Comfortable beds, with the convenience of a small kitchenette.

This worked out Ok for us, location and price. The maintenance is not 8.8 per the ratings in my opinion. A lot of caulking to keep things together not part of the original plan.
