The area around it is maintained as a special historic site. The tumulus itself is a small round tumulus with a diameter of 13.8 meters on the slope of the hill. It would have been hardly looked at without mural paintings. In addition to mural paintings, fragments of wooden coffins and sword fittings have been excavated. Before seeing the real mural paintings in the genshi of the decorated tumulus Kitra tumulus, I went to see the Kitra tumulus. If you go south from the Shijin no Yakata where the mural paintings are stored, there was a two-stage circular burial mound. Like the Takamatsuzuka Kofun, which is the same Asuka decorative burial mound, it was not a huge burial mound, but I was able to recognize the shape firmly.
