Kaiyuan Temple

Kaiyuan Temple is located in Jingyuan Lane in Gulou District. In the third year of Liang Taiqing (549) of the Southern Dynasty, it was named "Dayun Temple" when it was built, and it was called "Longxing Temple" in the early Tang Dynasty. Temple, named after the year", was changed to "Kaiyuan Temple". Kaiyuan Temple is one of the oldest existing Buddhist temples in Fuzhou. In the second year of Tianfu in the Tang Dynasty (902), King Shenzhi believed in Buddhism and opened an ordination altar in the temple, with 3,000 monks; Wang Lin also saved 20,000 monks. Later, Kaiyuan Temple was burned several times. After being rebuilt in 1979, there are several existing halls such as Iron Buddha Hall, Lingshan Hall and Fohua Society. There are many precious cultural relics in Kaiyuan Temple. The plaque of "Kaiyuan Temple" at the entrance of the temple is said to be written by Ouyang Xun, a great calligrapher in the Tang Dynasty. He sits on the lotus platform with his ears drooping on his shoulders and his palms folded together. There is a subtitle in the temple, "The origin of ancient Buddhas is all iron men, but ordinary people are said to be golden bodies."
