Denggaoyun Mountain Forest Park

The Cloud Rising and Rosy Clouds Flourishing scenic area is located at the north entrance of the Gao Yun Mountain Forest Park. The feature of this scenic area is the meticulously crafted bamboo forest flower sea. Several species of bamboo unique to Guizhou form patches of greenery, and among the greenery, a variety of carefully selected flowers are interspersed. Every spring, the tender green bamboo forest and the colorful flower sea complement each other, creating a charming landscape in the northeast of Guiyang.

To speak of the most secluded and world-escaping corner of the Ascending Yunshan Mountain Forest Park, it is undoubtedly the Cloud-Enveloped Camphor Area, located deep within the park and connected to the Haitian Garden. The Cloud-Enveloped Camphor Area, as the name suggests, centers around a large number of camphor tree forests. The camphor tree is a fairly common species in Guiyang and one of the most common greening tree species. Tall and straight, with dense shade, evergreen all year round, it does not shed leaves or harbor insects, and is known as a star species in greening. After the camphor tree's crown has grown, its shape is also very attractive, resembling huge pieces of broccoli, which are very pleasing to the eye. The Cloud-Enveloped Camphor Area is such a gathering place for camphor trees, where hundreds of tall camphor trees cluster together to form a camphor secret realm. Due to its location deep in the Ascending Yunshan Mountain Forest Park, it is also several miles away from the nearest city. Coupled with the barrier of the surrounding mountains, under these trees, one cannot hear any city noise at all. Moreover, due to its remoteness, tourists hardly ever reach this place. If one wishes to experience the feeling of being completely independent from the world, then the Cloud-Enveloped Camphor Area is undoubtedly the perfect place.

Following the flower borders of the cloud valley, I continued to climb higher. The path gradually turned into a winding mountain road, with hairpin turns outlining the most beautiful curves of the mountain. Reaching halfway up the mountain, among the green trees, a white stone pavilion faintly appeared. Beside the pavilion, the sound of water trickling could be heard, and a clear spring emerged from the crevices between the rocks in the forest, known as the spring of Yunshan. This is a halfway up the mountain spring that has been famous in Guiyang since the Ming and Qing dynasties. It used to be located in the suburban mountains, rarely visited by people, but now it has become part of the central park in the city, which inevitably makes one marvel at the rapid changes of the times and the speed of urban development. Resting for a while by the spring under the forest, I turned and entered the dense woods, and thus we entered the core area of the Ascending Cloud Mountain Forest Park.

After entering the Ascend to the Cloud Mountain Forest Park from the Brocade Sky Chapter, you are greeted by a long valley. The landscape trail winds up through the valley, with lush green mountains on both sides, while the valley itself is a riot of flowers, which is the Cloud Valley Floral Haven scenic area. The Cloud Valley Floral Haven scenic area takes advantage of the natural valley's elevation drop to create gardens like pearls. The landscape trail strings them together and is dotted with pavilions, terraces, and other scenic structures. The Cloud Valley Floral Haven is home to hundreds of species of flowers competing in beauty, with blossoms in all four seasons, making it a valley of flowers throughout the year, with unique beauty in each season.

Upon entering the main entrance of the Ascending Cloud Mountain Forest Park, you arrive at the first scenic area - Yúnjǐn Tiānzhāng. The scenic areas of the Ascending Cloud Mountain Forest Park are all named with four-character phrases starting with the character 'cloud', which are very pleasant to hear. The Yúnjǐn Tiānzhāng scenic area, as the main entrance and the place with the highest foot traffic in the park, is distinguished by a focus on family-friendliness. The slope here is gentle, gradually going deeper into the mountain forest from the main road, with broad white stone steps rising in tiers. Above the steps, there is a cascading waterfall, several tall trees are preserved, and leisure seats are built around the roots of these trees. Above the ground of the steps, there is a cobblestone-paved massage path, as well as relief ground paintings. The content of the ground paintings is also very interesting, consisting of detailed introductions to all the plants within the Ascending Cloud Mountain Forest Park, which is both educational and fun, interesting and knowledge-rich. The park's main gate is also located at Yúnjǐn Tiānzhāng. Behind a pool of clear, mirror-like water, on the transparent glass wall with blue-green stripes, the eight big characters of Ascending Cloud Mountain Forest Park are engraved. Behind the wall is a mountain lush with greenery, symbolizing the joy of the park's mountains and waters.

Guiyang is a city that truly lives up to its reputation as a mountain city, nestled among the surrounding mountains; Guiyang is also a city that truly lives up to its reputation as a forest city, with dense forests covering the mountains that encircle the city. In the mid-20th century, a ring of forest belts was built around Guiyang, serving not only as greenery but also as an important research base for subtropical plateau plants in China, with several forest farms distributed among them, providing a verdant environment that earned Guiyang the nickname 'Forest City'. As time has progressed and the economic level has improved, Guiyang has gradually transformed the forest belt around the city into forest parks open to the public. The Guiyang Forest Park on Tuyun Pass is located to the southeast of the city, the forest park on Luchong Pass is directly to the north, and the forest park on Qianling Mountain is to the west. In recent years, filling the gap in the northeast of the city is the Guiyang Denggao Yunshan Forest Park, a forest leisure resort that has been a key focus for the city. Denggao Yunshan Forest Park is located to the northeast of Guiyang, surrounded by the Yunyan and Wudang districts. This mountainous area was originally part of the Guiyang Shunhai Forest Farm, covering an area of over 5 square kilometers, with about 2 square kilometers developed into the forest park. The lush forest is surrounded by the bustling city, making it a true green heart of the urban area. The vegetation of Denggao Yunshan Forest Park is mainly composed of subtropical evergreen and deciduous mixed forests, with tall pines, cypresses, and firs standing upright, forming the main landscape of the park. Scattered across the valleys' flatlands are a series of small ornamental plant gardens such as the rose garden, cherry blossom garden, and landscape garden, creating a touring pattern that is well-arranged and interspersed with flowers and trees. Denggao Yunshan Forest Park has three entrances. The main entrance is located on the eastern section of Guiyang's Middle Ring Road. This is the specially constructed welcoming gate of the park, just a stone's throw away from the BRT Denggao Yunshan Station. However, parking resources near this entrance are tight, so driving is not highly recommended; the north entrance is located on the ramp of the overpass where Xintian Avenue turns right onto the Middle Ring Road, and it is recommended for drivers to enter from here, just navigate to Yunshan Garden to arrive; the west entrance is quite hidden, located in Guiyang Haitian Park's War of Resistance Memorial Park, generally hard to find, and not recommended for use. Denggao Yunshan Forest Park is vast, covering an area of over 2 square kilometers with more than ten kilometers of mountain trails and dozens of scenic spots. To fully appreciate each one, it would take two to three days, and even a brief visit would require at least half a day. It is a very suitable place for leisurely passing the time in a large park. The park, being newly built in recent years, is very well-equipped, from amusement facilities to vending machines, making it very convenient.
