Istanbul City Port

-Istanbul-Best place to go once. There are a lot of mosque. A lot of cafe that has a really good turkish coffee.

The view from the port can not be beat. if you have the opportunity while in Istanbul take an evening cruise up the Bosphorus.

It's a bit surreal to watch an endless line of cargo ships stream past ancient ruins, but that's what you get in Istanbul! The port is such a vital part of the city's function and character.

Istanbul actually has several ports. The cargo port is over in Kadikoy, near Haydarpasa train station. The old international passenger port is in the backstreets of Karakoy, near Istanbul Modern. The port of Yenikapi is the main port for the fast ferries that cross the sea of Marmara. I took a boat from Yenikapi twice while living in Istanbul. One to Bursa and once to Iznik. The ferries are large, comfortable and very fast. You also get great views of the historic peninsula as you pull away. The port on the other side of the sea is called Yalova. From here you can take a dolmus to any town that you want.
