The site of the Tenmanya turmoil where Kaiho Tai troopers and land reinforcements attacked the inn Tenmanya in Oil Koji. Currently, only a small stone monument in the land of Shogoro Nakai's martyrdom remains. There are many places in this way when walking in the town of Kyoto, so it is not particularly noticeable.
It is located along the street on the east side of Horikawa-dori. It is the place where the Tenmanya incident occurred. Shogoro Nakai, who loved Ryoma Sakamoto and Shintaro Nakaoka, attacked and died to attack the enemy. It's close to Nishi Hongan Ji Temple, so I thought it would be better to visit while visiting it.
When I walked north of the oil path to > south, I was hidden in a small shrine, so I didn't know at first. 3 I finally understood it after going back and forth about twice. The Tenmanya turmoil was the land reinforcements who were resentful of the assassination of Ryoma Sakamoto and Shintaro Nakaoka, and attacked the feudal retainers of the Kishu domain who believed that it was the work of the Kishu domain and celebrated at Tenmanya. It's a trivial thing from the flow of the end of the Edo period. Shogoro Nakai himself died, but after his death he was awarded jugoi (junior fifth rank). If martyrdom is "to sacrifice yourself for the danger of the nation" ...
There is a monument on Ayukoji-dori, which is one line east of Horikawa-dori in front of Nishi Honganji Temple. It's not noticeable next to Jizo. Mutsu Munemitsu, Kaiho Tai troop, and Totsugawa Goshi Shogoro Nakai attack Kyutaro Miura, a Kishu feudal retainer, and Shinsengumi, who are at a banquet at the inn Tenmanya on the Honganji side as a retaliation for the murder of Ryoma Sakamoto and Shintaro Nakaoka. In this Amanoya riot, Shogoro Nakai was killed by Shinsengumi Saito Ichi.
There is a monument near the Kendo Kaikan in the east of Nishi Honganji Temple. There is no explanation board and only a monument. It's not so noticeable that you might miss it. There used to be an inn called Tenmaya in this area. Shogoro Nakai (1847 ~ 67), a goshi of totsugawa, loved Ryoma Sakamoto and Shintaro Nakaoka. On December 7, 1868, Kyutaro Miura, a feudal retainer of the Kishu domain, who was regarded as the mastermind of the assassination of Sakamoto and Nakaoka, attacked Tenmaya with Mutsu Munemitsu and others, and fought against the escort Shinsengumi and fell.
