What travelers say:

It belongs to the Mangjing Village, Huimin Town, Lancang Laku Autonomous County, Pu'er City, Yunnan Province, and the main ethnic group is the Brown ethnic group. The village was selected for the second batch of Chinese traditional villages. It is a cultural relics composition of the "Jingmai Ancient Tea Garden" of the key cultural relics protection unit in the country, and is also one of the 9 traditional villages listed as the heritage elements of the "Pu'er Jingmai Mountain Ancient Tea Forest Cultural Landscape". Wengjizhai is located in Heyeng Mountain (also known as Mangjing Mountain) At the northern end of the mountain, built on the mountainside, surrounded by ancient tea forests about 1350 meters above sea level, on the fog line. According to the villagers, the layout of the five Brown village villages in Jingmai Mountain and the Leng Mountain is like an elephant, and Wengji is located on the head of the elephant. "Wengji" means "seeing the dragonfly" in Brownian. It is legendary that when the ancestors of the Brown people migrated to Jingmai Mountain, they saw the site of the village. The village completely preserved the traditional pattern and historical style of the Brown family village of Jingmai Mountain, and the architecture was scattered along the contour line around the heart of the village. Wengji has a Zhaimen, and houses were only allowed in the Zhaimen in the past. Wengji Buddha Temple was built on the platform at the northern end of the village. It is a place for religious activities and major festivals. It was rebuilt in 2009. The buildings in the village are all traditional houses with dry rails, and the entrance of the houses is required to face the heart of the village. The roof ridge is parallel to the Hey Leng Mountain. 49 of the traditional houses in the dry rail are cultural relics of the "Jingmai Ancient Tea Garden", a key cultural relics protection unit in the country. There are many large trees in the village boundary and next to the temple, which are regarded by villagers as the god tree of the village, including cypress, bodhi and eucalyptus trees. Zhaixin, Zhaimen, Buddhist temple, traditional houses and sacred trees are the carriers of heritage value of Wengji traditional villages. In recent years, with the development of social development and population growth, there are new villages on the north and south sides of Laozhai.
