We booked a (very expensive) private South Coast tour with snowmobiling with Reykjavik Outventure in February 2024. Unfortunately, we did not receive the private tour portion of this package. We were picked up (late) and driven to the base camp for snowmobiling on the glacier. When the snowmobiling was done, we were taken back to Reykjavik. Our driver did offer to stop at one waterfall on the way home and waited in the parking lot as we walked up to it ourselves. We did not receive a private tour, nor receive most of the package as described. We contacted the company afterwards and Bence, the Operations Manager, told us it is up to the guests to make sure everything is experienced on the private tour (what?!). While they agreed we did not receive a private tour - only a ride to snowmobiling and back - they refused to give a partial refund for the portion of the tour we did not receive. This tour was booked through a booking company and our hotel. Both the booking company and hotel agreed that Reykjavik Outventure was acting inappropriately and agreed that we should receive a refund. They both spoke with Reykjavik Outventure separately and were not able to reason with them. In the end, both the booking company and the hotel waived their commission on our booking and gave it to us because they felt bad that Reykjavik Outventure refused to do the right thing. Our hotel has also severed their relationship with Reykjavik Outventure as a result of our experience and will no longer book their guests with this company. While we encourage everyone to visit the country, we strongly urge you not to use Reykjavik Outventure for any tours in hopes that they will not steal from you as they did us. There are many other reputable tour companies you should use instead. We enjoyed EastWest Iceland a great deal. We also had a good experience with Superjeep Iceland and with Nicetravel Iceland on our last two trips to the country.

My group had the most terrible experience with this company. We had a tour booked for 21:00 with an 20:30 pickup. The tour guide no longer wanted to run this tour so they moved our booking forward to 18:00 start.I then received a phone call at 19:00 to tell me that we had MISSED the tours pickup, and they would not be able to honour our original booking at 21:00.I was told I would receive a full refund but I MUST NOT LEAVE A BAD REVIEW.I left a review online about this experience so the company withheld my refund. The company claims they emailed me but they used the wrong email address and did not call me even though they both mine and my partners contact numbers on record. Regardless even if they had called I would not have been able to attend the tour 3+ hours earlier than the one we originally booked. And the fact they have withheld my refund unless I remove a negative review is shocking when the review was completely justified. Why they thought they could move our tour forward by over 3 hours and fail to speak to us about this and then keep the money is honestly beyond me. The CEO is incredibly rude and tries to intimidate customers into removing reviews to get their fully justified refunds. (Screenshots below)
I want to let the tourists looking to book with this company know that please DO NOT take a chance with them, they will mess you around and you won't be able to view the iconic northern lights whilst you visit Iceland. Our encounter with this tour company turned into an absolute NIGHTMARE. We had initially booked a tour for 21:00, but the company abruptly switched us to an 18:00 tour without providing adequate notice. To make matters worse, they called us at 19:00 while we were having dinner to inform us that we had missed the tour due to their own scheduling mishap.Despite their multiple means of contacting us, the company tried to shift the blame onto us by citing a bounced email and refused to take responsibility for their actions. It's crucial to exercise caution when dealing with this tour company.Interestingly, our friends had booked a night tour with a different company and were fortunate enough to witness the Northern Lights at midnight. In stark contrast, we were rescheduled for a 6 pm tour and missed the opportunity to see the lights, all while the CEO displayed a rude and threatening manner in text messages, withholding our refund unless we complied with their demands. What's most disheartening about this entire ordeal is the CEO's lack of apology and their attempt to use intimidation tactics to stifle our honest reviews. This review accurately reflects our genuine experience, and we refuse to be silenced by their bullying tactics. It's worth noting that other tour companies, which had to cancel our tours for legitimate reasons, promptly contacted us the day before and issued immediate refunds without any fuss.
This tour company let us down in a big way. They rescheduled our tour to 3 hours earlier and failed to make contact with us. They then blamed us for missing the tour and told us we will not be refunded unless we take down our negative reviews.
