For serious fans of the Sanada samurai clan
Gives an understanding of the type of place mountain fortresses were located. Great view of the Ueda / Shioda Plain. But a fuller "castle" experience can be had at Ueda Castle down below.
There is only the place where Sanada's main castle was located, and it is on a mountain with a good view. There is a road from the parking lot, and you can walk to the hill of the main castle ruins in 1, 2 minutes. I could see the city of Ueda below, and I felt like it overlapped with the scenery Mr. Sanada saw.
I stopped by on the way from sightseeing in Ueda City to Sugadaira Kogen. I visited the site of the Sanada clan building, a memorial park at the entrance of Sanada no Sato, and then drove up a narrow steep slope on the way to reach it. This castle seems to be called Sanadayama Castle, Matsuo Shinjo, Sumirenji Castle, etc., and it seems that it came to be called by the current name from the scale and position. Because it is on a hill, the surrounding scenery is very good, and it looks like a park, so you can take a walk. A beautiful toilet is also maintained near the free parking lot ...
I was able to come, the ruins of Sanada Yukimura residence. Ueda city. Ahead of it, the Shinano walnut I bought in Tomi City was big and splendid. It seems that the harvest peak will start next week.
Yamashiro built in a great location to see four sides. Compared to Matsuo Kojo, which was the base before moving here, the mountain itself is not steep, but the ridge extends long to the East and West, and the situation of the time is well understood. Yamashiro stayed in the cherry blossoms at the cherry blossoms at the time of the battle, and the remains of the cherry blossoms remained in the cherry blossoms in the case of the Sanada clan.

A superb view point overlooking the city of Ueda

The view from the high ground is beautiful.
