Cathedral of the Sacred Heart of Jesus

Passing by No. 216 Qingnian Road, I saw a few words of the Catholic Church. Although I didn't go in, the appearance felt good. It is now a cultural relics protection unit in Jiangsu Province. After checking the information, the Sacred Heart Church of Jesus is the bishop of Xuzhou Diocese. It is a century-old building, Roman style, slightly German architectural style. If you look at it from the side, it is quite long and it is a large-scale building.

Xuzhou Jesus Sacred Heart Church is located at No. 216 Qingnian Road, which is a key cultural relics protection unit at the provincial and municipal levels. I didn't come here to punch in, I came out of the creative park and passed by. Because I have seen too many churches abroad, I just took a photo.

Located at the west end of Qingnian East Road, Xuzhou, in 1910, the French missionary Ai Weiwo funded and the German missionary Wu José designed and presided over the construction. The church is cross-shaped, 25 meters wide from east to west, 52 meters long from north to south, 14 to 15 meters high on the roof, and the towering tripod is 25 meters high, with a total area of 1258 square meters. The church is built with blue brick and blue stone, and the roof is a traditional beam-lifted heavy structure in China. The main parts of the church are the front porch, chapel, bell tower, music building, dressing room, etc. The southernmost part is a front porch composed of 3 round arches, the front porch is on both sides of the tall bell tower, for three floors structure, the original top is blue tile, the line is uniformly smooth, the style is chic, now changed to a cement roof. The two bell towers are decorated with tall tripods, with shrines in the middle and towering crosses. The southernmost part of the hall is the two-story music building, from which you can access the top of the front porch and the bell tower outside the hall. The main part of the church is the chapel, 24 meters wide, 50 meters long from north to south, spacious and tall, majestic. At the north end of the church is the Mass table, which is placed with various exquisite instruments. The walls are decorated with statues of Jesus, the Virgin Mary and other gods. The Temple at the end of the church is called the "O Room", which is the place where the bishops change their clothes during mass. The Sacred Heart of Jesus is well designed and well built, and has been as strong as ever after a hundred years of vicissitudes. Its cross-shaped layout, vaulted structure of the roof and wide masonry walls reflect all the characteristics of the architectural art of the German Catholic Church.
