Elounda Gulf Villas by Sandglass

Myself, my mum and my 15 year old son spent 4 nights at Elounda Gulf Villas during October Half term and it was the perfect break for all of us. For a 15 yo to go on holiday with his Mum and Nan it had to be something special and EGV ticked all the boxes for us. We had a gorgeous 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom villa so we all had our own space and beautiful outdoor area with large pool. The villa felt like a home from home (albeit much grander than my flat in London!) but what really made our stay special was the staff. Every single member of the team was so friendly, warm and welcoming. Special shout out to Sofia and Giorgos who looked after us at dinner and the fabulous ladies on reception who couldn't do enough for us. The staff obviously take a lot of time to get to know the guests and remember their drink preferences, meal habits etc which makes you feel extra special. The food in Argo restaurant is excellent - we recommend the rooster which we had 3 X and the Angus burger for lunch. The room service menu is the same as the restaurant menu which is a treat as often room service menus are basic; we had a lovely dinner set up on our terrace on the last evening. The shuttle to the beach takes around 15 mins and it's a lovely, private beach to spend an afternoon. We had lunch at the beach which was a nice change from the main restaurant, serving burgers and souvlaki etc. The Greek night was fun and well attended, with Greek dancers who encouraged the guests to join in and a BBQ buffet style dinner. We were very lucky with the weather - end of October and it was 27 degrees and sunny all week! Apart from spending time by our pool and on the beach, we explored Elounda, Plaka and Agios Nikolaos all of which are within easy reach by taxi. We also took the boat to Spinalonga which is worth a visit for a couple of hours. We preferred Elounda to Plaka as although it's pretty Plaka is very small, not a great deal to do apart from take the boat to Spinalonga. For shopping Agios Nikolaos is great. Thank you to Aris the General Manager and the amazing team at Elound Gulf Villas for such a memorable stay ❤️ Having stayed at a number of other hotels in the area, EGV is the number 1.

I recently stayed at Elounda Bay Palace hotel with my mother and 9 month old baby son. We booked it 24 hours before, looking for a quiet break and that’s exactly what it was! Firstly we arrived late roughly around midnight and when we got to our room there was sandwiches and Greek salad waiting for us which was a nice touch as we were hungry after a long day of travelling. Our room was nice but on the smaller side so we asked for an upgrade which the reservations manager kindly accommodated and we were moved to a ground floor double room which was ideal as it was right near the pool area and there were less steps for the pram. We did have a few issues with our new room as the lock on the door was temperamental as it was a key lock rather than the usual electronic swipe card, but we felt the reception staff couldn’t do enough to help and even offered us a complimentary lunch for our trouble. The setting of the hotel is very quiet and serene, given the time of year we travelled there it was off peak season so the hotel wasn’t full at all so there was no shortage of sun beds available etc. There is a sister hotel next door Elounda Beach and i believe you are able to use their facilities also but we didn’t need to. The food was lovely, just a standard buffet restaurant for breakfast and evening meal and then there are restaurants dotted around the complex you can use pay for lunch or pay extra for evening meal. One big negative I will say is the prices were ridiculous, 7€ for a coffee and 20€ for a subpar club sandwich and chips… I couldn’t understand how they could charge this much! We ended up going to the supermarket and buying bread, cheese and ham and having sandwiches for lunch every day as we couldn’t afford to eat in the restaurants for lunch every day. This is a really quiet resort and there is no entertainment on an evening so it depends if you want somewhere lively. It was ideal for us as we wanted a quiet week away! The staff were all so friendly and lovely and were so good with my little boy; it can be daunting taking a baby to a foreign country but they certainly made us feel at ease. The hotel is a short walk from the village of Elounda which is stunning and lots of places to eat and drink! It’s roughly a 20 minute walk. Overall we had an amazing stay and the views were beautiful, I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a quiet week away with stunning views.

We stayed here for a week and although the hotel is basic the staff are very welcoming. The hotel was spotless and the room was cleaned regularly with towels changed every day. We stayed all inclusive and found the food to be great. There was loads and a varied choice. For the money I would recommend this hotel for a short stay for adults. The hotel is ideally located, very close to the beach and a short walk to the lake with many coffee shops and restaurants near by. There is a pool, but the seating area beside it is small.

The photos really don’t do this hotel justice. It’s beautiful with its own private beach. We stayed for a week at the end of the season and had the most amazing time. The hotel is clean, bright and welcoming. The restaurant staff are brilliant and the food excellent. Although the hotel is built into the hillside, there are 3 lifts and golf type buggies to get about on as it’s very steep in places. We used the gym a lot and it’s very well equipped, clean and air conditioned. The beach is great with a restaurant/cafe and bar. The staff there (especially Marianna and Chris) are brilliant. We also hired one of the boats a couple of times to sail around the bay. Also walked into Elounda which takes about 20/25 minutes at a stroll. Take care in places though as there aren’t any paths. All in all we’re definitely going back and probably in October again. Brilliant!

Almyros
we are more than thrilled with the location, the service and the concept of the hotel. Everything here is very well organized down to the smallest detail, it is a boutique hotel with about 15 rooms, but each of them has a sea view, our room even has a large terrace about 10 m long with two loungers, there are also rooms with a whirlpool and the rooms are named after the islands of the Cyclades store. in general the whole hotel is very well organized and the food is also very good. the whole team of the hotel is always very committed to create an extraordinary experience for the guest. We would especially like to thank Maria from the reception, she made this stay a little paradise. The hotel also has a private beach which is very nice, you can go into the sea for more than 100 m and you are still standing with your feet on the bottom of the fine sand. The hotel's pool is also very nice. All in all, we can only warmly recommend the hotel and would like to thank Maria and the whole team
