Lukang Town, about an hour's drive from Taichung, is one of the oldest historic towns in Taiwan. It still retains cultural sites, such as Lukang Old Street, Mo Ru Lane (Gentlemen Alley), Lugang Tianhou Palace and Lukang Longshan Temple. Taiwan has a famous probe "Fucheng, Lukang and Monga", which describes the grand spectacle of Taiwan's three great ports during the Qing dynasty. "Lukang" refers to Lukang Town, which was an important port of culture and commerce at that time. Today, Lukang still retains many ancient houses with the Minnan style. In addition, there are many places representing the traditional Lukang style, such as Lukang Old Street, Banbian Well, Aimen, and Shi Gandang.
