Zoo Station- Celebrating U2’s Achtung Baby On December 31 1989 U2 played the final date of the Lovetown tour, ending a two year world tour that had taken them from the Joshua Tree through the tour for Rattle and Hum. The band were spent, they knew they could no longer continue in the same fashion, writing the same kinds of songs. The University of Michigan’s own Symphony Band, a leader of the wind band movement in America, is set to embark on the 2025 State of Arts: Symphony Band Tour, bringing the transformative power of music to communities across Michigan. From May 6-12, the tour will travel through eleven communities, engaging students and audiences alike with world-class performances and educational clinics. Led by Jason K. Fettig, Director of Bands at U-M and former conductor of the United States Marine Corps Band, 58 U-M student musicians will perform in a variety of venues, from high school auditoriums to performing arts centers across Michigan. In addition to the concerts, interactive side-by-side clinics will provide regional high school students the opportunity to collaborate with U-M musicians, culminating in joint performances for local communities. Each performance and clinic will provide high school students with an opportunity to interact with top-tier musicians, offering side-by-side educational clinic experiences where high school students will rehearse and perform alongside the U-M Symphony Band. These moments will culminate in a powerful finale featuring both U-M musicians and local students. We're excited to have our tiny dancers return to camp again this summer! At dance camp, our mini dancers will get an introduction to dance, play fun games as a team, and learn routines to perform for parents on the last day of camp! No dance experience is necessary but your child is sure to want to continue dancing after camp is over!
