Don't miss this intimate performance with the legendary Lou Barlow (Dinosaur Jr/Sebadoh/The Folk Implosion) and Laura Lee (Down the Lees) Presented by Ollie North Productions Forever in our hearts and forever at the heart of things, Lou Barlow is a founding member of Deep Wound, Dinosaur Jr., Sebadoh and The Folk Implosion. After a lifetime of creativity under various enticingly-named handles, including Sentridoh, Barlow now records under his own name. The directness of using 'Lou Barlow' rather than a recording alias results in similarly direct songwriting and, in particular, a directness and strength in the author's voice - one of the loveliest instruments in the independent music canon. Laura Lee Schultz is a singer-songwriter rooted in Vancouver and Belgium, now based in the Okanagan Valley. Known for leading the post-noise rock band Down The Lees, her solo work strips everything back to the core, voice, guitar, and unfiltered emotion. Her songs carry the same intensity and lyrical honesty as her band, but in a more intimate form, revealing the tension, vulnerability, and quiet weight behind the noise. Drawing from a life shaped by working-class roots, underground music scenes, and years of touring, she delivers performances that feel raw, direct, and deeply human. With Down The Lees, she has shared stages with artists including Brutus, Pile and Sparta and released critically recognized work including Dirt (produced by Jesse Gander) and the OSIF Award-winning single “Douse,” and recorded with Steve Albini. Their recent concert film This Is What It Feels Like captures the band at full force, but in this setting, Schultz steps forward alone, where the songs begin. Join us at Frequency Sound 528 on Saturday, June 7 for an intimate evening of raw storytelling & soulful songwriting. Headlining the night, Pony Gold —the musical project of Canadian singer-songwriter Theresa Anne Bromley—brings a powerful blend of folk roots and alt-country grit. Her music is tender, unfiltered, and strikingly honest, shaped by a life lived fully—through rural beginnings, personal transformation, and a devotion to truth in storytelling. Her debut album High Road Reverie , produced by Leeroy Stagger, has quickly established her as one of Canada’s most compelling emerging voices. With national radio play across CBC, ABC Country, and SiriusXM North Americana, and a Top 10 spot on the National Earshot Roots/Folk/Blues charts, Pony Gold’s rise is undeniable. On stage, she delivers performances that feel both intimate and electric—pulling audiences into each lyric, each pause, each moment of truth. Having shared stages with artists like Cameron Whitcomb and Chaparelle, and performed at festivals including NXNE, Rifflandia, and Sunfest, she now brings her sound into the immersive setting of Frequency Sound 528. Opening the evening, Kansas-Lee offers a sound that is equally moving and expansive. After self-producing three albums, her first studio record Ostara opened doors to festival stages, theatre performances, and collaborations with respected BC artists. Her voice and songwriting carry a rare depth—honest, resonant, and transcendent—often described as the love child of Joni Mitchell and Adrianne Lenker. Together, these two artists create a night of powerful contrast and cohesion—where grit meets grace, and vulnerability becomes a shared experience. 🌙 What to Expect Intimate, seated concert experience Folk, Americana & alt-country influences High-quality, immersive sound environment A heart-centered space for deep listening and connection Come as you are, and let yourself be moved—this is music that meets you in the real places.
