Join us for a waffle breakfast, catered hot lunch, and lecture on the Doan Gang of Bucks County, presented by the Mercer Museum in conjunction with their special exhibit. The Doan Gang was a group of British loyalists, the most notorious members being five brothers and one cousin from the Doan family of Plumstead, PA. The gang was composed of around 50 members who were accused murderers, attainted traitors, horse thieves, and ferried British prisoners of war to British lines. They were also guilty of robbing tax collectors, their most famous crime being the theft of the Bucks County treasury in 1781. This 45-minute lecture focuses on the Doan Gang and their activities in Bucks County during the American Revolution. Events covered include the Loyalist raid of the Bird in the Hand tavern in Newtown, PA and the Battle of Crooked Billet. This lecture is based entirely on contemporary research using historic court documents, eyewitness accounts, and newspaper appearances. The speakers are Annie Halliday, Director of Library and Archives at the Mercer Museum, and Clint Flack, Exhibition Specialist. Information Source: The Friends of Graeme Park | eventbrite

Rebalance yourself with sound Listen to the calming sounds of a variety of gongs, singing bowls and gentle percussion in a therapeutic sonic experience for relaxation and well-being. I chose beautiful and inspiring locations to add to the overall experience to make every event immersive and memorable. I play in a sensitive and and intricate manner using a range of multi-sensory techniques to providing a different and personal approach, allowing for a deep level of meditation and connection with sound. Sound and well-being Its important to make time for ourselves, and to look after our wellbeing. These sessions use a range of large gongs, played in a gentle and sensitive manner to help achieve a deep sense of relaxation and meditation which can help to restore the mind and body back to equilibrium. What to expect You will rest comfortably on the floor and listen to the sounds. You are not expected to do anything physically active. The session is aimed at relaxation and rest. Participants normally stay awake but reach a deep dreamlike state which can be extremely therapeutic for both the mind and body. I normally bring 3-4 large gongs, and 10-20 singing bowls, long with other gentle percussion, chimes and other instruments. The instruments vary with each session. No previous experience is needed, and all will be explained before the session. Sound Journey The term refers to a deeper level of relaxation and meditation using therapeutic sound. The gongs are an integral part of this experience and the way they are played in a sensitive manner also adds to the overall effect. What to bring Please bring a mat (yoga mat/camping mat etc), one or two blankets, a pillow, eye covering and a bottle of water. I do have spare mats available if requested in advance. How to prepare The sound therapy session is a 2 way process, a connection made between you and the sound. Please arrive 15 minutes early to get settled in advance. When you arrive take the time to rest quietly in the gong space, slow down your breathing, clear the mind and relax. The more prepared you are the greater the benefit you will feel. Please enjoy the quiet space when you arrive and respect others around you who will be preparing too. Contact me in advance if you are unsure of directions to the venue. Arrival Please arrive 15 minutes early to ensure you are ready for the sound session to begin on time. Due to the nature of the sound meditation, late arrivals cannot be admitted. Thank you for your understanding. Benefits of Sound therapy Sound therapy can have a wide range of health benefits. It works very well as a form of preventative self care. One of the biggest benefits is stress reduction and reducing the negative impact that long term tension can have on both the mind and body. Other benefits can include: Promoting relaxation and well-being Aids good sleep and reducing effects of insomnia Improved circulation and boosting the immune system Mindfulness and/or spiritual connection through meditation Resting the mind, stopping overthinking Pain relief Accessibility If you have any accessibility requirements please contact me in advance so we can ensure you have everything you need. Contraindications and Tickets Contraindications: The soundbath sessions are not suitable for people with seizures, epilepsy, heart conditions, high blood pressure or early stages of pregnancy (1st trimester). REPLENISH We gather each month in Circle to share in a supportive non-judgemental community. We come together to give ourselves time, space and nourishment to express what needs to be expressed in a brave space. Sitting shoulder to shoulder with other women. Providing a confidential, nurturing space for women to gather together in community to learn from each other, share together and uplift each other. Each month we will enjoy a different well-being practise together covering areas like seated yoga and gentle movement, meditation, Ayurveda, mindfulness, breathwork, reflection, journaling, yoga nidra …and more. Gentle, tender ways to rejuvenate our bodies and nervous systems, allowing us all to tap into simple yet potent practises to bring deep calm, confidence and intuition into our work, personal life and play. We’ll gather around the fire (candlelight) to talk and share, creating a sense of connection and belonging. "I have loved coming along to Circle with Adrienne. She creates such a calm and meaningful environment where women can feel safe and nurtured. Self care has become a huge priority for me and by going along to circle I am able to prioritise myself and my well being with expert guidance and a room full of kind, supportive wise women." -Alice Clover (The Farting Feminist) Practicalities What to bring? Yourself, just as you are (and a notebook and pen). Refreshments - there will be a selection of drinks to purchase on the evening and food too if you'd like. What brings me here? Honestly, it’s a kind of pull, a kind of knowing that this is the work I need to be doing right now. I am very used to leading large groups of yoga, teaching workshops and intimate one-to-one work with Coaching clients and those interested in yoga, meditation and Ayurveda. However this is very different. I am not the leader of these Circles, I am merely the facilitator and we create the sessions within our growing community together. There is an option to book by bank transfer or cash in advance , please contact me directly.
