Join us for the final episode of the captivating series of conversations with contemporary artists, as Juan Sánchez engages in a thought-provoking dialogue with Alejandro Anreus. Presented by CIMA – Center for Italian Modern Art, Persisting Matters: An Artist Talk Series provides a platform for contemporary artists to engage in conversations with scholars, curators, critics, and the public. This engaging series is developed in conjunction with CIMA's highly anticipated exhibition, Transatlantic Bridges: Corrado Cagli, 1938-1948, which explores the profound impact of Cagli's work during his exile from Italy. The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts has generously supported this initiative with a grant. Central to Cagli's artistic journey were the themes of gender, racism, political oppression, and resilience through art and community practices. In an effort to continue these important dialogues, Persisting Matters welcomes contemporary artists who explore these pressing subjects within their own unique contexts. Born to working-class Puerto Rican immigrants in Brooklyn, NY, Juan Sánchez is an influential American visual artist and a prominent Nuyorican cultural figure of the latter 20th century. With a career spanning over four decades, Sánchez's art serves as a dynamic platform for creative and political inquiry, addressing issues at a personal, familial, communal, and global level.
