Zhangjiajie is a city located in the Hunan province, the northwestern part of China. This city is home to the world-famous Wulingyuan Scenic Area. Zhangjiajie is a national park too, which is filled with strange-shaped peaks and rocks, limestone caves, hidden valleys, and wandering waters. This is because of its position between the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau and Dongting Lake. The area has three significantly big parklands-Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, Tianzi (Son of Heaven) Mountain Nature Reserve, and Suoxiyu Nature Reserve. Mainly all the famous scenic spots are centered in the northern part of the city and are easily accessible by public transport. 

Tip: To get to the airport, take the airport express. It will take you to the center of the city in less than 30 minutes.

The Zhangjiajie Hehua Airport (DYG) is the main point of entry to the region of Zhangjiajie and is well connected to the major cities in and outside China. What to See

A must-visit place in the Zhangjiajie region is the National Forest Park. This protected region consists of thousands of jagged quartzite sandstone columns, many of which rise up to 200m, and caves filled with stalagmites and stalactites. Two of the most famous scenic attractions are Yellow Stone Stronghold (Huangshi Zhai) and Golden Whip Stream. Golden Whip Stream is about 7.5 kilometers (about 4.7 miles) long and is known for its cliffs, green mountains, and pristine waters.

The Wulingyuan region also encompasses rivers, forests, waterfalls, and two large natural land bridges, as well as endangered animal and plant species.

Another must-visit place includes Suoxi Valley Nature Reserve, which is adjacent to Zhangjiajie National Forest Park. It has many picturesque areas like the stunning Bao Feng Gorges featuring the so-called 'Four Wonders' - Baofeng Waterfall, Baofeng Lake, Yingwo Stronghold, and A Gleam of Sky. Other must-see places in Zhangjiajie include Yellow Dragon Cave — a Huge and Mesmerizing Underworld, the world's longest and highest Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon Glass Bridge, Tianmen Mountain and Mount Batur.
