SCUBA DIVING SCAM! Stayed here a few weeks ago and while the accommodation is adequate (not great), the owner is a fraud. Convinced me to pay for the PADI scuba diving course saying that it would make getting a fully open water course cheaper. He said he would fill out the forms and I should receive an email a few days later, however I never received that email and have contacted him since, but he kept saying he was busy and yet to fill out the forms. If I could give zero stars I would. Should have read the previous reviews (on Google) before agreeing to pay. He also operates cash only, meaning we have no record of payment!

We recently spent 5 nights at the Southern Star Club as a family of 4 (children aged 10 and 13). The large, air-conditioned room was simple but clean with small, modern kitchen and bathroom facilities. There are two pools, one for dive training which is 5m deep and another, smaller one for less confident swimmers. The host, Amer was super friendly and helpful. While most people involved in the tourist industry in Jordan see you as a walking A**, Amer was the opposite, offering good advice for inexpensive restaurant options in downtown Aqaba and negotiating a better deal for a snorkelling trip on a boat on our behalf. We'd brought our own dive masks but Amer is a dive instructor with hire kit available and he took our eldest son for a try-dive for a reasonable fee. Amer also arranged a fantastic location for us in Wadi Rum, Salma Camp - I'll write a separate review for that. The location is not far from the beach but the return is all uphill and in the intense heat of Aqaba, and especially with children I wouldn't recommend walking. We had a hire car and drove to different public beaches for snorkelling trips from the shore, all only a 5-10 minute drive away. I'd definitely recommend this location and especially Amer for his friendly hospitality.

Room is suitable for singles not family. Bed mattress are very tough No kitchen, no plates, spoons or anything just boiler Tv channels are only hotbird satellite Bathroom without water spray only bado No place to hand any clothes. Pools are 2 and 5 meters deep which is not suitable for kids.

Terrible experience that I wouldn't recommend even to my worst enemy. At 1.36pm we park in this semi-desolate place, look for the reception (spoiler: it doesn't exist!) and a lady tells us that it is not the check-in time (2.00pm). At 2.30pm we return after having lunch and the lady changes her speech by saying: "YOUR ROOM IS HERE" (rather questionable check in formula) Dirty room, decadent bathroom, dust everywhere. The swimming pool outside looks like a pond, the owners ARROGANT and INCOMPETENT (can a hotel owner talk to you without a shirt as if he were at home?) Don't make our mistake and change your ways

The owner Amer and his wife Lylia are a bunch of crooks. They sell diving courses and promise registration and delivery of an Open Water Padi diploma. After paying and practicing, they do not send the dearly paid certificate. This is organized fraud. You can find all the detailed negative reviews on TripAdvisor, Airbnb, Google Maps. Flee this crooked hotel, report them to the Jordanian tourist police. A shame for this honest and welcoming country.
