Village Inn

Stayed here during a visit to Scotland with my sister. Lovely hotel, friendly staff & great food. Great views over Loch Long. Our room was comfortable, spotless and very welcoming. We had breakfast each morning which was lovely and dinner twice which was very tasty. Can highly recommend staying here if you are visiting Arrochar.

This is my favourite place on the banks of Loch Long. Cool historic vibes for tourists and a warm welcome and great food for these who enjoy the nearby great outdoors. On this occasion my group of 9 were ably served by Alex, Lara, John & James. A great family friendly visit after a wonderful day out with Eastwood Divers.

Stopped for a meal and a drink here and was not disappointed. Lovely food, plenty of drink options and great service from Aimee who was so lovely and funny! We had steaks all round and they were all amazing. Cooked to perfection. We will most definitely be back, hopefully soon!

We had dinner here as a family (2 adults and 2 kids). Well kept traditional pub. Service from Alex and Anni was excellent. All of the food we ordered was exceptional, fresh and really tasty. An added bonus was that the kids ate for £1 during Easter holidays. Would highly recommend.

A pleasantly appointed room with a Good shower. We had a dog with us, our room had its own external door, which was great for mopping her down on the entrance mat, after coming in from the torrential rain outside. Nespresso machine which was a nice touch. Helpful, friendly reception. Absolutely fantastic breakfast, cooked to order, not sat for hours in a hot tin. I suspect some beautiful views across the loch, but the rain rather spoiled that.

Visited this pub three times during our holiday. It is welcoming, well kept and friendly. We didn't book but I would recommend booking as I think we got lucky It gets busy! We enjoyed the food, ambience and views. Would happily stay there and speaking to others, we were told that the rooms and breakfast were very nice. Great pub to visit.

Waited over an hour for food. No one asking if we wanted more drinks or explanation why food so late. Asked for extra roast potatoes when food arrived and told not a problem. New potatoes finally arrived but, refused them as already eaten my meal and was told by a very grumpy, rude waiter I should have asked for extra with our main order then they would arrive together. Waitress cleared table and made no attempt to ask if all ok or if we would like anything else & hurried off before we could ask for desert. We didn't have another 60 minutes to wait so decided to leave. No interaction from rude waiter when we paid bill with him & no apology for wait etc.

Arrived & ordered drinks & food - good start. Waited ages for the drinks to arrive and after 45 minutes finally managed to ask a waitress how long food would be. Told back log & it wouldn't be long so another 15-20 minutes & food arrived. I asked if I could have extra roast potatoes & was told yes. Potatoes (new not roast) finally arrived when I'd finished my food so refused them as I'd wanted them with my meal. The waiter then rather rudely said extras are ordered with food order & then they would arrive together. Well how do you know you want extra before the plate arrives? Lamb roast not great but, ok. Meal over & waitress cleared table, didn't ask if we wanted dessert or anything else & made no attempt to come back over so decided to pay bill as didn't have time to wait another 60+ minutes. Wasn't asked if everything had been ok or if we had enjoyed everything when we paid the bill but it was the rude waiter who's mood hadn't changed at all

We were staying in a lovely cottage in Arrochar and saw this pub as we drove past. We came for a drink and really enjoyed our time so booked a table for the following evening for dinner. Unfortunately that’s where the stars go down. We ordered 2 lamb shanks, gammon and steak. The 2 lamb shanks came without the greens, the gammon came without the pineapple and the steak came without a steak knife. We had to ask for these and the greens came once we had finished the lamb and the steak knife came half way through. We were eating in the bar, so we paid for everything upfront. We carried on to have dessert which were okay. It would have been nice if someone acknowledged the fact that the service wasn’t great and things were missing from our meals - but nope we left and not one member of staff mentioned a thing. Very poor and we won’t be returning.
